Top tip for installing shadow gap beads with plasterboard
Always fit the bead to the plasterboard BEFORE you put the plasterboard on the wall. To do this cut a 200mm to 300mm strip of the plasterboard you're using. Clip the bead to the strip, fit that on the wall and then you can finish the rest of the plasterboarding around the detail.

General advice on how to choose the right shadow gap bead:
As a shadow gap skirting detail:
1. Use SGL20 if the shadow is directly above a traditional skirting:
2. Use SGL20 or SGU15 if shadow gap skirting is used instead of a traditional skirting board
a. Use SGL20 for a shadow gap that has the flooring as the bottom of the shadow
b. Use SGU15 to conceal an expansion gap for solid flooring
As an architrave detail (for example around doors, in a reveal against a window frame, etc.):
3. Use SGL20 if the shadow meets a wooden frame:
Installation tip: Cut a 2mm wide, 2-5mm deep rebate in the frame. Slot the leg of the shadow gap bead into the door frame
4. Use SGL20 or SGU15 if the shadow meets a finished frame material such as metal or PVC
5. Use SGU15 to conceal unfinished surfaces or gaps at the frame side of a shadow
For the very best finish
6. Always use PVC weld on all joints. This will not only fill any small holes visible between beads if joints have been cut, and can make joined beads look like a single continual run and will add strength where beads touch
